Rockerhill Global Limited designs and supplies multi rake bar screens, also called chain-driven multi-rake bar screens or automatic mechanical bar screens. A fixed bar rack is cleaned continuously by several rakes mounted on endless chains. Screenings are lifted out of the channel with low head loss and without the long stop-start cycles of single-rake screens.
Our multi rake bar screen is built to the channel, not the other way round. We have supplied units for channels 4,800 mm wide and over 7 m deep, in stainless steel, for municipal wastewater, raw water intake and industrial duty.

How a multi rake bar screen works
01Screening Wastewater passes through the fixed bar rack. Solids larger than the bar spacing stay on the upstream face. |
02Raking Rakes on two endless chains enter the gaps at the foot of the rack and lift the screenings up the incline. |
03Discharge A cleaning comb at the head strips the screenings from the rakes into the discharge chute. |
04Conveying Screenings drop onto a screw conveyor, compactor or container for removal. |

What is a multi rake bar screen?
A multi rake bar screen is an automatic bar screen with a fixed rack cleaned by several rakes on endless chains. It removes rags, plastics and debris from wastewater or raw water and discharges them to a conveyor or container.
How does it differ from a single-rake screen?
With several rakes working in sequence, the rack is cleaned more often and the head loss stays lower. This helps at high flows and on wide channels.
What bar spacing should I choose?
Municipal inlet works often use 10 to 25 mm. Fine screening uses 3 to 10 mm, and pumping stations or intakes may use 25 to 50 mm. We size it from flow and downstream equipment.
How wide and deep can the screen be?
It is built to the channel. We have supplied a unit for a channel 4,800 mm wide and over 7 m deep.
Which material should I specify?
AISI 304 suits most municipal wastewater. AISI 316L is used for seawater, high chloride or industrial duty.
Can a wide screen be shipped overseas?
Yes. We ship wide racks on flat racks or build them in modules that bolt together on site.
